The Building Code Administration Department is responsible for reviewing all proposed building-related projects and their compliance with the Uniform Building Code as set forth by the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction. The Building Codes regulate all items relating to the built environment including but not limited to new and renovated buildings, repair/replacement of equipment, fire protection systems, mechanical systems, etc. The primary responsibility of the department is to ensure the minimum/maximum requirements to provide a reasonable level of safety, public health, and general welfare through structural strength, means of egress facilities, stability, sanitation, adequate light and ventilation, energy conservation, and safety to life and property from fire and other hazards attributed to the building environment. As a key member of the Building Codes Administration team, the primary job function of the Part-Time Plan Reviewer is to perform timely and accurate review of submitted construction drawings, including nonstructural, structural, mechanical, and fire prevention system plans, in compliance with the Kentucky Building Code and Kentucky Residential Code, under the supervision of the Chief Building Official.
